In case you haven't heard about the Fresh Air Fund, I suggest you take a look at their website HERE and learn what they are about. I first learned of them last year, when I was contacted by Sara Wilson, the Outreach Coordinator, to ask if I was interested in sharing The Fresh Air Fund with my readers. I did a blog post about this wonderful program and now I am posting again to let people out there know what a amazing program this is! The program is set up to provide New York City children from low-income communities with fun and memorable summertime experiences. It reaches out to the most needy families to give them a chance to discover new sights and scenes, to make new friends and to experience something new while having fun! The Fresh Air Fund is an independent not-for-profit agency which has been providing free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million New York City children since 1877! Their numbers have soared up to almost 10,000 children annually! This is AWESOME!!
In 2009, close to 5,000 children visited host families in suburbs and small town communities across 13 States from Virginia to Maine and Canada. Three thousand children also attended five Fresh Air camps on a 2,300-acre site in Fishkill, New York.
